Ndutu Calving Season Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport – Karatu (3-hours transfer).

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by one of our experienced driver guides who will escort you to Karatu Town for your reserved hotel. If you will have time and energy on the way you will have some stops and he will introduce you to this wonderful city and country.

In the past, the area around Karatu and Ol Deani was of great importance to the German colonial administration. The area’s cool climate, verdant hills, and pleasing views make it popular with settlers and farmers. Coffee was a main crop grown for export, and a few large farms that remained in private hands still cultivate the cash crop on the hills and small valleys outside of town. Karatu offers splendid views of the northern highlands and is a popular base for visitors on their way to Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park.

Overnight at Marera Valley Lodge on Full Board Basis 

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Ndutu (1.5-hour transfer).

After breakfast your guide will pick you up and today you will visit one of the seven African wonders, the Ngorongoro Crater, created when a huge volcano erupted two million years ago. The fertile lava has created a unique ecosystem; the crater has the highest concentration of animals anywhere in Africa. After game drive in Ngorongoro crater you will proceed to Ndutu area for dinner and overnight

Overnight at Heritage Camp – Ndutu on Full Board Basis

Day 3: Ndutu Full Day

After breakfast, collect lunch boxes and on this day you will take time to enjoy and learn how animals survive in the wilderness during calving season, of which during this period thousands of wildebeest give birth to their young ones will hunted by deadly predators.

Ndutu provide a best wild life viewing during the green season which is around December up to March, ndutu is found on the southern part of Serengeti plains where around 8000 wildebeest babies are born every day, there area is mostly covered by forest of acacia trees, also Ndutu is the best place to spot six species of cat – leopard, lion, cheetah, caracal, African wildcat and serval.

Overnight at Heritage Camp – Ndutu on Full Board Basis

Day 4: Ndutu – Karatu (1.5-hour transfer).

After breakfast, collect lunch boxes and proceed with last day of game drive in Ndutu Area, and in the late afternoon we will proceed to Karatu for dinner and overnight and get ready for the next day of game drive.

DAY 5: Manyara – Arusha (2.5-hours transfer).

After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park on this day you will enjoy the excellent view over Lake Manyara, see elephants up close in the woodlands and visit the renowned Manyara hippo pool where many, many hippos take to the water from early morning until late in the evening. The park offers a great view of the 400 meters deep Great Rift Valley. This tear in the earth came into existence 22 to 25 million years ago, when movement in a weak area of the earth’s crust led to the formation of a rift thousands of kilometers long through the whole of East Africa. The valley is so enormous it can be seen from outer space and it has many unique landscapes that attract a vast number of different animals. Besides being home to Lake Manyara itself you can also find dense rainforest here with hundreds of groups of monkeys and a huge number of birds. After game drive proceed to Arusha/Kilimanjaro airport for drop-off.
